November and December 2008 Commander’s Message
The fall season is upon us, which means this is a very busy time of the year
First, let us count our blessings and good fortune and remember those who are less
fortunate than us. You can help by your donations to the Christmas fund, help in the
fruit baskets, and even drop off a toy for Toys for Tots program.
Lets all do our Civic duty and get out and vote in November. Remember our
Early Bird Dinner on November 13th. Let’s all come to the Veterans Service November
11th at VFW Post 1400. Coffee and donuts will be served at 9 AM, with the service at
10 AM and a service at the Jefferson County Building at 11AM. Lunch will be served
at the VFW after completion of all services. The VFW will also conduct a Pearl Harbor
Memorial Service at 10 AM on December 7th.
Remember fish fries are now back and on non fish fry nights, food is being
sold at the bar. The Queen of Hearts drawing is every Friday night at 8 PM. Stay tuned
for “Steak at the Bar” coming soon on Thursday night.
As always, New Years Eve Party tickets will be sold starting November 30th.
Don’t forget winter parking rules. If you must leave your car, leave your keys and a
phone number with the bartender.
I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New
Year. Let’s keep our Troops in our thoughts and prayers for keeping their families and
us safe while they are away from us. May God bless them all and keep them safe. I
hope to see you at the club for some of our many functions. Come and enjoy the Post.
For God & Country
Jim Marshall
Commander
