SONS Commander's Message November and December 2008

Fellow Sons,
I would like to start out with reminding you that our 08-09 dues are currently
due. Please drop your dues off or mail them into the Legion. We are having an Early
Bird dinner on December 17th with dinner being served at 6:00. This is also a meeting
night, so regular business will be conducted after the dinner. Also as a reminder, your
dues need to be paid before you can attend the dinner.
On October 26th the Sons will be holding a children’s Halloween party starting
at 1pm. There will be pumpkins to carve and refreshments for the kids. Also in October
is the Detachment Commander’s visitation on the 30th. Several of the Son’s will be there
representing Squadron 61. November is amounting to a busy month starting with
Veteran’s day. Please check the bulletin for the times and places. If you don’t attend
any other events, please try to make it to this. November 16th is a Toys for Tots event
at the Legion. The Sons will be helping out in the kitchen that day. On November 23rd
is the Watertown Christmas parade. The Sons will also be participating in the parade.
For the last few years the Sons have thrown candy and will continue this year.
November and December are great months for reflection with Thanksgiving,
Veteran’s day, and Pearl Harbor day on December 7th. Please take some time to stop
and think about what a Veteran has done for you or what you as a Son can do for the
community. As we get more involved in the community more membership is needed.
Please take one day and volunteer for one of the events whether it is a Son’s event or
not.
Our next two meetings will be November 19th and December 17th.
Refreshments are served at every meeting. Please try to stop in for a meeting.
Our meetings are held every third Wednesday at 7 pm.
I would like to close by wishing you all a filling Thanksgiving and an even
more fulfilling Christmas.
For the good of the Sons (We Care) David Hoistion Commander
